GRAND AVE ARTS: ALL ACCESS – Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 11 cultural organizations along the arts-centric stretch from Temple to Sixth Street present a free one-day cultural event. Stop by for performances, exhibitions, behind-the-scenes tours, and interactive, family-friendly activities. VISUAL & PERFOMING ARTS COLLEGE FAIR – October 24, 2015 at UCLA. The event is free. There are metered parking lots with hourly rates, or all day passes for parking. This is a great event to find both art schools and universities with strong art departments and the booths distribute application and scholarship information. ART CENTER/ NATIONAL PORTFOLIO DAY – January 17, 2016. The National Portfolio Day for the Los Angeles Area is on Jan 17, 2016 at Art Center College in Pasadena, CA. This is an event where students applying to art schools go and show their artwork to the schools they plan to apply to for portfolio review and feedback before they apply. FREE ART PROGRAMS

CAL ARTS PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM  –  Deadline: December 15, 2015. This program provides 10 weeks of instruction during the spring semester for high school students. Students will learn how to use a manual 35mm camera, how to process black and white film, and how to print in the darkroom. Participants engage with CalArts faculty and student instructors in a productive environment where technical and conceptual skills expand. Participants’ work will be celebrated in public exhibitions at selected venues.  APPLY HERE!!

Class Times: Saturdays, 10:00am – 4:00pm / Dates: February 6 – April 16, 2016 / Location: CalArts, Photo Lab – Sublevel (24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia, CA 91355). Transportation provided from Grand Arts.

YOUNG ARTS – Deadline: October 14.  Young Arts gives millions of dollars in art scholarships each year. It’s open to all students at our school grades 9-12. To enter, you must make an online account and upload your images. Scholarships = Free Money. These are the biggest art scholarships available. Students may apply for a fee waiver to enter for free if they have filled out a lunch application as part of a Title 1 school. FREE ART PROGRAMS

CENTER THEATRE GROUP – Deadline: September 22. On three Monday evenings this fall, come together with other teens and professional artists to dive into a play from CTG’s upcoming season. Actors and directors will investigate scenes from the play, and costume, lighting, and scenic designers will get hands-on to develop design concepts as a team. On the last day, we’ll throw it all together, invite our friends, pitch our designs, and see what we’ve got! You don’t need any experience to participate. More info here.

CALARTS & SELF HELP GRAPHICS – Deadline: October 4. In this 20-week program for high school youth, students explore a multitude of disciplines while focusing on specific social issues. Participants may choose to collaborate with others in the class, or work independently to develop their own way of self-expression and make creative choices within the visual arts.
